What is the treatment process for Teeth Whitening?
If you would like dental whitening, the dentist will first check you are suitable to have the treatment. A stable and decay free mouth is essential and this will be evaluated before the treatment can start.
The treatment phase is usually done in three visits. The first visit is where a mould is taken of your teeth. This is sent to the lab who then make custom-made clear whitening trays for you.
The second visit of the treatment is usually a week or two later once the whitening trays have been made for you. The dentist will try them in your mouth for accurate fit around your team and gums. The trays are worn when you sleep for around 2 weeks at home. The dentist will explain how to perform the whitening for the best possible results.
The third visit is once you have done the whitening at home for two weeks. The dentist will check the teeth for improvement in the shade. If you would like any further treatment, this can be planned at this stage. A full follow up and maintenance plan about when to see the hygienist and dentist will be discussed during your cosmetic treatment.
A word of warning:
We do not recommend getting whitening products online or from other unregulated and unregistered third parties. We cannot guarantee the chemicals and techniques they are using and there have been many reported cases of significant issues following such treatment.
We therefore recommend seeing a professional clinicianl who is appropriately trained and registered for those interested in Dental Teeth Whitening.
