Regular tooth brushing and flossing is the best way to keep the mouth in good condition for the majority of the public. Effective hygiene at home and regularly cleaning with our dental hygienists is important to reduce the chance of developing infections, gum disease, tooth decay and bad breath. Our excellent team of experienced Dental Hygienists at Dental Studios are on hand to help.

Why You may need a Hygiene appointment?

  • Bad breath
  • Bleeding gums
  • Red gums
  • Loose teeth
  • Gum recession (exposed tooth root)
  • Early tooth loss
  • Signs and symptoms of gum disease (known as Periodontitis):

Often, gum disease has a family history or hereditary component to it. If you know of a family member who has suffered from any of the signs of gum disease listed above, you may be at increased risk yourself of developing gum disease. Treating gum disease early is important. We would therefore recommend discussing this with your dentist and hygienist.

All hygiene appointments with our hygienists will include the following things:

  • Gently clean all the teeth and gums including full plaque and tartar removal.
  • Remove stains (like those from tea, coffee, wine and smoking)
  • Red gums
  • Discuss oral hygiene techniques and tools most appropriate for you as an individual to do at home so you can maintain excellent oral hygiene at home.
  • A mutually accepted follow up and recall plan between the clinician and patient

Knowing how to brush your own teeth effectively is vitally important. The vast majority of your cleaning is done by yourself at home. We believe the patient should know exactly how to brush properly themselves so they can maintain their own dentition. The best oral hygiene tools and techniques will be discussed by the hygienists during the appointment.
